Attendance Expectations
At Buena Vista Montessori, we value consistency and connection. Regular attendance supports your child’s learning and wellbeing and helps sustain our classroom community. These expectations align with Colorado Springs School District 11’s attendance policies.
Regular Attendance
Consistent attendance allows students to fully engage in the Montessori learning process, which relies on routine, concentration, and collaboration. Children thrive when they are present each day to build upon lessons, connect with peers, and participate in hands-on work. Families are encouraged to prioritize school attendance and schedule appointments or travel outside of school hours whenever possible.
Reporting an Absence
If your child will be absent for any reason, please contact the office as soon as possible. You may call 719-328-4100, email maura.buchman@d11.org, or click the button below to report the absence. Clear and timely communication helps us ensure accurate attendance records and maintain safety for all students.
Tardiness
Arriving on time each morning helps children transition smoothly into their work cycle. Late arrivals disrupt concentration and the calm, focused environment that supports independent learning. Students arriving after the start of class should check in at the front office before joining their classroom.
Extended Absences
If your family anticipates an extended absence, please communicate with the school in advance. While we understand that family time and special circumstances may arise, missed classroom experiences are difficult to replicate. Teachers cannot provide make-up lessons for absences, but we are happy to suggest ways to support your child’s learning while away. Complete the form in the front office or at the button below to report an extended absence.
We appreciate your partnership in supporting regular attendance and punctuality. Together, we help foster responsibility, independence, and a sense of belonging for every child at Buena Vista Montessori.
