Hello! I am thrilled to be teaching at Buena Vista Montessori! I like to say that I’m a Colorado transplant from the Midwest who traded the Great Lakes for the Rocky Mountains.
I feel fortunate to have taught first, second and third graders at Montessori schools in Wisconsin and Illinois and now I can call Buena Vista Montessori home! Not only do I believe in the development of the whole child, but I maintain Maria Montessori’s philosophy of cultivating the individual potential of my students. What I love most about the Lower Elementary is encouraging my students to explore their interests and curiosity in learning. I appreciate the collaboration with my students in setting forth expectations for a harmonious classroom and school community.
As for educational background, I earned my BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, certified in Art Education for K-12 students. Not long after, I discovered Montessori and received my elementary AMI certification through the Montessori Institute of Milwaukee in conjunction with completing an M.ED from Loyola University Maryland.
Outside of school, I enjoy all that Colorado has to offer – hiking, camping and mountain biking with my husband. I also love to see live music and travel as much as I can!
“If teaching is to be effective with young children, it must assist them to advance on the way to independence.” – Maria Montessori
