Child-Centered School in Colorado Springs

Free the child's potential, and you will transform him into the world. ~Dr. Maria Montessori

Welcome

Welcome to Buena Vista Elementary School, a tuition-free public Montessori school in Colorado Springs serving children ages 3 through 5th grade. As part of Colorado Springs School District 11, we are proud to offer a high-quality Montessori education in a public school setting—making this proven, child-centered method accessible to families throughout our community. All of our students attend on a Choice Permit, and our staff, students, and families form a tight-knit community in which every child is known and nurtured.

A cut above, What makes Buena Vista Special?

Public Montessori School in Colorado Springs

Buena Vista is one of the few public Montessori schools in Colorado. We combine the structure and standards of public education with the Montessori method, known for fostering independence, creativity, and critical thinking through hands on, student-led learning.

Accredited With Distinction

We are proud to be Accredited with Distinction by the Colorado Department of Education recognizing our excellence in academic growth, student achievement, and educational quality

Whole-Child, Student-Centered Learning

Our classrooms focus on the development of the whole child intellectual, emotional, social, and physical. The Montessori approach empowers students to work at their own pace, make choices, and take ownership of their learning in a respectful and inclusive environment.

Multi-Age Classrooms & Montessori Materials

Students learn in multi-age classrooms, using specially designed Montessori materials that promote deep understanding and self-correction. Subjects include language, mathematics, science, cultural studies, and practical life skills all integrated into a holistic learning experience.

Strong School Community & Family Engagement

We believe in building a strong school community. Families are actively involved, and students enjoy rich learning experiences beyond the classroom including music, art, robotics, environmental programs, field trips, and after-school enrichment.

Comprehensive Student Support Services

Buena Vista provides a wide range of student support, including gifted & talented programs, reading intervention, social-emotional counseling, and special education services ensuring every student receives the personalized care they need.

We also provide a wide array of field trips, after school activities, and fun family events.
